Our physical therapist reminds us that nursing teams can play a significant role in keeping patients strong even when they are in their hospital beds.
Here are five exercises you can teach your patients, and ask them to perform frequently while you are in their room. Not only will these movements help them maintain their body strength, your team will benefit as patients will better be able to participate in daily care, linen changes, and getting out of bed!
- Bridges
- Roll right and left – transition to sitting at edge of bed
- Lift head and shoulders off bed
- Raise legs while keeping them straight
- Scoot up and down in bed
Happy Mother’s Day and have a great week!
